Gold Coin Studios, a Games Global partner, has released an online slot named Outlaw Saloon with a Wild West theme. Spin the reels and fire your virtual six-shooters in this Western setting for the chance to win big thanks to the game’s Sheriff Badge Collections, Metered Prizes, and three free-spin bonus rounds.
The game sheet for Outlaw Saloon made some vague reference to time travel. At first sight, it wasn’t clear if the studio was making fun of Outlaw Saloon’s tattered appearance or the Wild West setting of the game. It’s situated in a dead frontier village, with synthetic individuals that are flawless in every way. Three respectable awards are displayed on the left side of the game grid, but the game’s archaic, clinical aesthetic doesn’t encourage repeated button mashing.
But hammer we did, choosing a wager anywhere from 20 percent to twenty-five pounds or euros every spin. Outlaw Saloon has respectable numbers, including a maximum RTP of 959.8 percent, good potential, and a hit rate of about one in three. The game has a high volatility (though this varies with the free spins bonus round selected) and is played on a 5-reel, 3-row matrix with 20 fixed paylines.
All payline wins must begin on the leftmost reel and continue across all active reels to be paid. The lowest paying symbols are the suit icons (hearts, clubs, spades, and diamonds), which pay 5x the wager for a full house. Higher paying symbols (cards and chips, a bag of cash, three character symbols, and a logo) pay 12.5x to 100x the wager for a full house. Let’s check out the normal wilds, which show up on reels 2, 3, and 4 and can replace any other regular pay symbol, including multipliers during one of the bonuses.
Slot Machine Outlaw’s Saloon Symbols
With a Sheriff Badge Collection, Metered Prizes, and three different free spin bonus rounds, Outlaw Saloon has the ability to pay out a lot of money.
Amassing a Set of Sheriff Badges
When the Sheriff Badges wild symbol appears on reels 2, 3, or 4, you win a prize. The badges then get sticky and provide another respin, turn wild, or expose a gold bar. When a Sheriff Badge becomes sticky during a respin, it causes another respin to occur.
Adjustable Payouts
The Gold bars that substitute for other symbols on reels 2, 3, and 4 are gathered, too. A second gold bar, a badge, or a wild symbol is revealed upon landing a gold bar. Gold bars that are exposed also initiate a respin and remain fixed during it. A payout of 50x, 500x, or 5,000x the stake is awarded when a meter is completely filled.
Bonus Turns
When 8 Sheriff Badges are collected within the same base game cycle, you’ll receive 8 free spins; each additional badge will give you an additional spin. Players can pick from three variants, each with its own ruleset;
If you get a whiskey bottle or a badge on reels 2, 3, or 4, you’ll trigger the Multipliers Free Spins bonus and be awarded an additional wild symbol (whiskey bottles are wild) or a multiplier. Badges or whiskey bottles that are unmasked grant one respin and remain stationary throughout the respin. When a badge is shown, a free turn is given. There is an x3 multiplier for the first whiskey bottle, x6 for the second, and x9 for the third.
If you get a wild tequila symbol, you will always get another wild tequila symbol revealed and a respin awarded. Tequila icons that are exposed reveal either more tequila, a badge, or a wild card. When a badge is landed, a tequila, badge, or wild is shown. A respin is triggered when a tequila or badge is revealed, and those cards stay put during the respin. For every badge earned, you get one free spin. The second, third, and fourth reels all feature tequilas and badges.
Free Games with Cash Prizes Wine glasses and wild badges appear on reels 2, 3, and 4. When you land a wine glass, badge, or wild, you’ll be awarded either cash or free spins. Any spin in which a wine glass or badge is shown results in a respin during which both are secured. When a badge is shown, a free turn is given. Win glasses also provide monetary awards of 2-50 times the wager.
Slot Conviction at the Outlaw Saloon
It’s difficult to find the right words to describe the Outlaw Saloon. Once we figured out the complicated rules (you should see the game in action if you’re interested), it picked up a bit, but it still didn’t do much to excite us overall. Many players are likely aware of the abundance of Western-themed slot machines, so if a studio is going to go to the trouble of creating one, it better bring their A-game. It’s interesting that Gold Coin Studios took the other approach and rushed out something that lacks polish, or maybe they went in a completely unexpected direction that we missed. Outlaw Saloon certainly stands out, but perhaps not in the way the creator intended.
For the sake of being shallow, let’s analyze the aesthetics of Outlaw Saloon. Of course, aesthetic appreciation is subjective, but I don’t think Outlaw Saloon looks all that fantastic. Perhaps even a decade or more ago, such behavior would have been acceptable, but not now. Players accustomed to more modern games, such as Red Dead Redemption 2 or Deadwood-themed slot machines, will find Outlaw Saloon to be a frustrating throwback. The music is solid, though it would take extraordinary stupidity to botch a traditional Western song.
It’s not that Outlaw Saloon is incompetent, but there are moments when you start to question if it’s attempting to be. Due to the lack of a cascade, the Sheriff Badge acquisition mechanism can be a bit perplexing. At first, when the free spins feature was activated, it seemed like nothing more than a random sequence of occurrences. You get something like a combination of respin opportunities, sticky symbols, and consecutive hits. everything’s probably best not to attempt to make sense of everything and simply to let Outlaw Saloon do its thing, given how random it all is.
Flagpole sitting was a bizarre trend that swept the United States in the 1920s, in which people would sit atop a flagpole for several hours or even days. The record was supposedly really strange, perhaps around 51 days. Whatever the case may be, the point is that there is probably at least one person in this vast and varied globe who can appreciate the peculiar chaos that is Outlaw Saloon. Although there are many great games in the Western-themed slot genre, Outlaw Saloon falls short of the competition.
